Calling all Rock Lovers !!

Women in Rock : Camper Calling Festival 27.8.2023

Thigh high boots, leather corsets and BIG hair means classic rock music from the 70’s and 80’s – however on this occasion it’s the Women in Rock show that grace the stage at the highly popular Camper Calling festival at Ragley Hall in Warwickshire over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

The Women in Rock Show has been wowing audiences across the UK & Europe featuring the sounds of some of the biggest female fronted artists such as Cher, Joan Jett, Bonnie Tyler and Tina Turner and this performance was never going to disappoint, with Ruby , Racheal & Cheryl fronting up to the ever building audience in the sunshine backed by the stunning stately home which was recently featured in the Netflix drama “The Crown”.

Anyway, back to the show ..

With a family festival it was the opening rendition of “So What” by P!nk that got the audience participation off and rocking with lots of families singing along to this popular song with all three singers playing their own part in whipping up the atmosphere whilst being backed by a talented bunch of musicians who played perfectly throughout the show. The show ploughed onwards further with sublime performances of classic songs from Allanah Myles, Kim Wilde and Heart to name but a few, by which time the crowd had swelled to a few thousand and with arm waving and rapturous appreciation, it must have been an amazing feeling for the artists on the stage.

… and it has to be said, the Bonnie Tyler medley was just wOw !!.. Now, a huge amount of credit for this has to go to the ladies in the audience as their participation was something to behold with wonderful tones and key changes before the girls took over and belted out renditions of “Total Eclipse of the Heart” and “Holding out for a Hero” with perfection.

So, unfortunately time was up, but not before a wonderful tribute to perhaps the queen of rock – Tina Turner and obviously they saved the best for last, which was “Simply the Best” and had time not run out – encore performances would have been demanded.

The Women in Rock show will take you on a journey of female rock music over the past 50 years which will leave you wanting more.. catch them at theatres around the UK and more information can be found at https://www.womeninrock.co.uk
